Hedgehog gets penis jammed in fence

A hedgehog had to be rescued after getting its penis stuck in a fence.
A vet in Holland tried to relieve the swelling with ice packs. But the hedgehog went into shock and had to be put down.
The Twentse Courant Tubantia newspaper reports the creature had been looking for a mate when it got stuck in a garden fence in Hengelo.
The householders called the local animal protection society because the hedgehog hadn't moved all morning.
The society's vet discovered the hedgehog's penis was stuck and badly swollen.
Carl Drent told the paper: "When we found the poor animal his penis had a length of 12cm and was 2cm thick. The poor boy must have suffered a lot."
The hedgehog was taken to an animal home in Enschede but had to be put down.
