Buskers to be tested to protect tourists' ears

Buskers in Budapest are to have to take a yearly exam to protect tourists from musically incompetant beggars. The tests are the idea of the city council which wants to ensure visitors to the city are met with pleasant and soothing sounds.
Musicians who pass the exam will receive a certificate which they must carry around with them.
Busker Adras Pagonyi, who plays the mouth organ, said he thought the examinations were a good idea. He said it would stop police officers from "bothering" them and trying to remove them from public places.
The exams will take place once a year at a festival for street musicians where violinists, accordion players and singers must perform in front of a jury which will decide who can stay and who should go.
